A Letter to my Dad...

Dear Daddy:
It has been nearly 7 years since you have passed away.  I miss you every single day!  I miss sitting on the patio with you watching the birds dig in the ground, pulling worms for their little ones.  The laughter we shared over this one little thing means the world to me.
I miss the rides in the black pick-up truck with you.  I miss walking through the woods and around your farms.  I miss your smile, your laughter, your hugs.
I remember back when I was a little girl, standing on top of your feet and you dancing around.  I felt like a Princess!  I still remember you rescuing me from the oversized Wringer Washer when my arm was caught in its rollers, taking me off the ground with my screams of terror!  I remember you jumping down the stairs to the basement were I was and took me in your arms and sleighed the Dragon.  You were my hero and I don’t think I left your side the rest of the day.  I was just a little girl, but I still remember you holding me and making it all better.
I would LOVE to be able to hug you, to hear you laugh, or to just sit with you on the patio watching the birds.  I still picture them in my mind in remembrance of you!  I pray that you are resting well and are enjoying the company of your family that arrived in heaven before you and being in the loving arms of our Savior.
I want to thank you for being such a wonderful dad! You are my hero in more ways than one!!  Thank you for keeping me on track for good values and morals.  Thank you for always being there through those awful teenage years and through all my trials and tribulations in this life!  YOU are my rock and my shield!  Thank you for letting me be able to depend on you!
I dearly miss you and love you with all my heart.
Your loving daughter,
Brenda
PS. Happy Birthday....

  1. Brenda...what a sweetly poignant letter. I imagined with you as I read about your small and big adventures with your beloved father. Good memories are a treasure, yet they also make us miss our loved ones. I'm glad you have such blessed memories. I imagine that he was smiling very near to you as you wrote it.

    Happy Birthday to your dad.

    Have a glorious day,
    Marianne xo
