A FABULOUS FRIDAY!!

Good morning and a Fabulous Friday to everyone!! I would like to share with you today some art that I did a while back. It was my first time trying to work with pastels. I found that it was a hard median to work with, but I enjoyed giving it a try.
I started off by drawing the picture, then adding color as I go along. I also found out that pastels can smear rather easy. I had a hard time keeping my hands up and away from the working area.

This is the very first one I did. The faces were really difficult. I have only tried this a few times, but it is something that I would love to start doing again. I love to draw and paint; however, working with pastels, for me, was a little different...

I'll have to ask my dear friend, Marianne, if she can give me a few pointers on working with pastels. She is an amazing artist!

I found an old photo of my teenage son when he was about 1 year old. He loved sitting at the piano, carefully playing with the keys. So I decided to draw the picture on light colored paper and try again once more using pastels. After completing this painting, I decided that maybe using dark paper would have been easier to work with. At some point, I would like to try this again.

Art is a very good way to ease your stress. Easing your stress is a very good way to stay healthy, and strolling Down Memory La La Lane will give you a little bit of both!

Here's to  your health!!

The Lord heals your diseases, redeems your life from the pit, satisfies you with good, shows compassion to his children, and knows your frame. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
Psalm 103: 3-14

  1. Brenda! I had no idea you did these things. They're wonderful! Your composition is great and your work has a lot of flow to it. Seriously, I think your geese and women would make excellent note cards. You would be surprised how they would look in that format.

Great job, and do keep it up. Pastels have always eluded me, too. But working on a grey paper will help pop the colors. Also, don't forget to spray with a fixative spray to keep the pastel in place. Thank you so much for sharing this part of you.

    Blessings,

  3. Susan, it is so good to see a comment from you. We have missed you!! Thank you for loving my art. It is hard for me to draw, also. I have to look at something in order to draw it. I can't do anything from memory!! But I enjoy this very much. It is so good to hear from you.
